Garden Fountains
For peace, tranquilty and relaxation there is nothing quite like water to add the final touch in any garden. Still water has its own appeal, but moving water seems to have a special effect in bringing a garden to life while still making it a more relaxing and beautiful place to be. The addition of a garden fountain is sure to add another dimension to the beauty of your garden, while adding garden decor that is both pleasing to the eye and ear.

The sound of water is one of the most relaxing sounds there is; that is why water is used so often on relaxation music. So imagine relaxing, seated in your garden by your own permanent water fountain. A large fountain, such as the one shown left, is obviously going to give you more in the way of sound, so if you have the space, then a large fountain is fine.
However, even the trickle of a small fountain can have a soothing effect, so if space or budget are a contraint, then you can find smaller but equally attractive fountains to enhance your garden.

A real space saver is a wall fountain such as the lion on the left, which combines an old favourite for statues, with the practicality of being flat on the wall. The sound of the flowing water, though, is just the same.
When installing a water fountain in your garden, remember to consider the safety aspects if you have any small children. The large fountain pictured, for example, has a reservoir of water what is potential dangerous to an unsupervised young child. Water fountains can be very beautiful, but they can also be irresistible to children, so it is a matter of safety first when deciding on the type of garden fountain you have, and what you can do to guard against serious or fatal accidents.
