Indoor Fountains

A couple of weeks before writing this I was watching a television documentary about the Burj al-Arab - or Tower of the Arabs - hotel in Dubai. It is the tallest hotel in the world, with suites costing up to $15,000 per night. Not something I could afford or contemplate, yet it had me watching in awe for the full hour.

Much about it was magnificent and highly original, and it was a sheer pleasure to watch, and I even had to admit it was worth paying $15,000 just for the experience; and you could even do it for $900 a night in a cheap room. One of the most memorable features, though, was the centrepiece indoor fountain, a masterpiece of water fountain design, shooting high up in the air with such precision that guests were able to stand close knowing that when it came back down, there would not be a splash of water. Throw in a few flames to add to the remarkable spectacle, and it was something to watch and remember for the rest of your life.

Table Top Indoor Fountains

Of course, that cost $100's of thousands to design and build, but we can get a lot of enjoyment in our own homes for a far more modest outlay on an indoor fountain. There is something about water, and especially moving water, that relaxes a home and can turn even an ordinary little home into a tranquil and relaxing haven.

Indoor water fountains come in all shapes and sizes, and incorporating many materials such as slate, stones, copper, and stainless steel. They can even come with an exotic touch, such as the slate based fountain above left, which has the appeal of jade. Or there is amethyst (left). Really, there are sure to be some indoor fountains that will fit the decor of your home.

Table top fountains are a delighful addition to home decor, and are highlighted nicely by simple, slender tables, such as the elegant table on the left. Leave the small fountain on a large, sturdy oak dining table, and it will look lost; however, it may nonetheless form a part of the dining table decoration for special meals.

Indoor Wall Fountains

One of the more modern developments in indoor water fountains has been the introduction of wall fountains. These also come in many forms and sizes, with some very large and imposing fountains, such as the 4 foot wide slate and copper wall fountain on the right.

Taken care of in accordance with instructions, indoor fountains are not difficult to maintain and make a welcome addition to the home decor scene. Especially if, like me, you need the sound and sight of water around to help you relax. They can also look very good too, if you choose well to match the rest of your home decor.
